Italian Wine-Soaked Brogues: Moreschi x Guado al Tasso 2011

Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Let us take a moment to recount when Ryan Gosling made every head turn with his perfectly tailored vino-colored suit in Crazy, Stupid, Love. The fashion industry has sworn allegiance to this dark, sultry shade, using it to pimp out everything from sweaters, to leather jackets, and brogues. It’s only natural that the hue would make the jump to our wardrobe, since we do indeed love our burgundies.

We bring you a pair of oxfords that takes a lot of bottle to wear. This limited-edition shoe was born from the union of world-renowned footwear brand, Moreschi, and famous Italian wine house, Marchesi Antinori. These two Italian companies are ambassadors for Made In Italy and joined forces to create a “vintage” men’s shoe called 1946 Guado al Tasso. The handmade, limited-edition leather oxfords are dyed with the leftover grape skins from Antinori’s Guado al Tasso 2011, reproducing the burgundy color from the fine wine. Guado al Tasso is part of the Moreschi’s 1946 collection, which is dedicated to the company’s founder Mario Moreschi who is a well-known wine collector and enthusiast. The coveted shoes are made with the finest hides and best vintage leather in the world, then seasoned in the company’s vault just like a fine wine, to age and improve over time. Only 120 pairs are being made via special order, making this a must-have for aficionados, enthusiasts and collectors all over the world.
