#VINO4: Carlos Gallardo
Cool People. 4 Questions. 1 Bottle of Wine #VINO4
Dreams, ambition and heart are reasons we admire Carlos. Carlos Gallardo began dreaming of being in cinema from the age of 6. By the time he was 13 he was a director and soon thereafter he wrote, shot, directed and produced one of Hollywood’s academically profound films El Mariachi. Oh yes, then he was the actor and co-producer on ‘Desperado“. He was also a producer on “Once Upon a Time in Mexico“, featuring Johnny Deep, Willem Defoe, Enrique Iglesias, Eva Mendez, and of course Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas. Ok, get a glass of something delicious and let’s go!
You created the one of the most iconic films in Hollywood history, El Mariachi (produced and filmed in 14 days) – during those 14 days, what was the most memorable moment?
When the army general told me…”if i give you the permit to carry guns how will I know you will not rob a bank….”
You’ve worked alongside amazing talent your whole career, who are some folks you haven’t worked with, but would like to?
John Woo; Ridely Scott; James cameron; George Miller; Michael Bay; Jerry Bruckheimer, Gareth Edwards and Gareth Evans.
In addition to being awesome all day, what project(s) are you working on for this year?
Im working on more than just a project, I’m working on the creation of a great career for an up and coming director and going out to casting calls as my actor side needs it!
When you need to unwind and simply escape, where do you go? What do you do?
I open a bottle of wine and if there is a real wood fire place…I sit by it and just stare at it. The wine will be either The Prisoner, Salado or Caymus 40th Anniversary.
Bonus question: My 4 year old would like to know your preference on water.
