WINES TO EXPLORE THIS WEEKEND
Red wine with Seafood is delicious. Conforming to any social norms that may have existed is passé at best and ignorant at worst. From art, music, fashion, medicine and technology there are countless examples of innovators that saw what was status-quo and luckily for us decided to go against the grain to better culture, society and humanity. With this same fervor I ask that we, the Explores of culture through wine, break personal convention of only having white wine with our seafood. Explore, experiment and you’ll find a happy place where red wine and seafood work. Find a bottle with low tannins and overall lighter in body if you’re having delicate white fish. Grilled tiger shrimp or a meaty swordfish can go with a Syrah, Grenache or even experiment with one of the Spanish ones below. Live a little this weekend.
2012 YASO TORO, $10. This is a 93 point rated wine by Robert Parker. Let it breadth, berries and low tannins. Go for it with your delicate seafood. (Costco)
VINA EGUIA TEMPRANILLO 2010, $12. Try this with your heavier seafood and a Mediterranean inspired feast. Medium bodied, great finish.
